Strawberry Hill

From 2005 to 2006 Plymouth University organised a summer field programme at Strawberry Hill, the 'gothick' castle built in Twickenham by gothic novelist Horace Walpole, in partnership with the Strawberry Hill Trust, Inskip and Jenkins Architects and the Historic Preservation Program at Penn Design, University of Pennsylvania.

Detailed digital mapping and physical investigations of the interior spaces and fabric of the building was undertaken - including historic paint analysis and the discovery of covered features -  postgraduate students and their findings made an important contribution to the Strawberry Hill Trust's restoration and conservation plans for the house.
